In this article we explain what to do if incorrect PIN attempts are not detected by the Intruder Detection feature
The Problem
Incorrect PINs are not being detected by the Intruder Detection feature and are not triggering an alarm or photo.
The Cause
The Android system has specific requirements for what constitutes a valid PIN attempt. Any entry with fewer than 4 digits is not classified as a PIN by the Android operating system and therefore will not trigger the Intruder Detection feature.
The Solution
To properly test the Intruder Detection feature, ensure you are entering 4 or more digits when attempting to unlock the device with an incorrect PIN.
Valid PIN attempts that will be detected:
- 4 digits (e.g. 1234)
- 5 digits (e.g. 12345)
- 6 digits (e.g. 123456)
- Any combination of 4+ digits
Invalid PIN attempts that will NOT be detected:
- 1 digit (e.g. 5)
- 2 digits (e.g. 12)
- 3 digits (e.g. 123)
