In this article we will show you what to do if Intruder Detection photos aren't taken on your device running Android 11 or later.

The Problem

You have chosen Incorrect PIN as your detection method and Take Photo as your action, but after your PIN is incorrectly entered 3 times, no photo is taken.

Your device is running Android 11 or newer.

The Cause

Android 11 introduced greater control for users when granting apps permission to certain features on their device, such as the camera. Rather than simply Allow or Deny access, the user now has the option to allow access ‘While using the app’ or ‘Only once’. Due to the way incorrect PINs are detected on Android, a photo of the intruder may not be taken if ‘Only once’ access is granted to the camera.

The Solution

On Android 11 and newer, allow Certo to access the camera ‘While using the app’.

If you have already denied permission or chosen ‘Only once’, you can change this by following these steps:

  1. Open your Settings app
  2. Tap Apps
  3. Tap Certo
  4. Tap Permissions
  5. Tap Camera and choose ‘Allow only while using the app’
