We are pleased to announce that Certo has joined the Coalition Against Stalkerware as an Associate Partner to help in the fight against online stalking.

In the lockdown between March and June of this year there was a 51% increase in the use of spying and stalking apps globally, compared to January and February of 2020. As a company we saw a 46% rise in website traffic during May to July this year compared to the prior few months, indicating a greater concern about spyware and stalkerware.

The Coalition Against Stalkerware was founded in 2019 in order to facilitate communication between those organisations working to combat domestic violence and the security community. The founding partners have committed to fighting domestic violence, stalking, and harassment by addressing the use of stalkerware and raising public awareness about this issue.

As a member of the Coalition, we will work alongside the founding members and other partners to define best practices in the debate surrounding stalkerware and other potentially unwanted technologies deployed without user consent, facilitate learning about stalkerware and related threats by security professionals and companies. We will also share insights from our own independent research in a bid to raise awareness and help educate users on the risks involved with stalkerware, and support not-for-profit organisations by facilitating training on Certo AntiSpy, helping empower victims of intimate partner violence and create a safe space on mobile devices.
